Minister of Foreign Affairs visits the Netherlands

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, made a business visit to the Netherlands, where he met with his counterpart, Hanke Bruins-Slot.
During the meeting, the authorities highlighted the values shared by both countries, such as respect for human rights, democracy and free trade.
They also valued the signing of the Advanced Framework Agreement between Chile and the European Union, which took place yesterday in Brussels, in the hope that it will be ratified soon by the parties.
The dutch minister took the opportunity to thank the tribute paid to her compatriots in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the coup d'état, an occasion in which the solidarity of former diplomats of the netherlands was acknowledged.
They also discussed the regional and global situation, migration, climate change and clean energy, among other matters, as well as the Agreement on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biodiversity beyond National Jurisdictions (BBNJ), for which Chile wants to host its secretariat.
Homage to former honorary consul general
Within the context of the visit to the Netherlands, Foreign Affairs Minister Alberto van Klaveren also participated in the unveiling of a plaque at the Embassy of Chile in honor of the former Honorary Consul General of Chile in Amsterdam, Max Stork Visser, who served the country for more than 44 years.
He was appointed honorary consul by President Carlos Ibáñez del Campo in 1956 and consul general in 1962. His work did not cease after the military coup of September 11, 1973, providing consular support to Chileans in exile.
During his visit to The Hague, the Secretary of State also met with the Vice-President of the International Criminal Court, Luz del Carmen Ibáñez; with the Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, Marcin Czepelak; and with the President of the International Court of Justice, Joan Donoghue.
